Wow, hasn’t this summer been a dream! The heaviest rainfall recorded in over a hundred years we heard!
So the outdoor art stall has been a no go and instead we’ve busied ourselves with other projects…
Here is a nice big A2 print of a Black Redstart, a handsome garden songbird that’s sadly diminishing in numbers throughout the British Isles. Not a terribly folorn piece, more of a hopeful dawn greeter we were thinking. It was produced at Bonzo Studios in Southsea as a nice simple two colour screenprinting basics course the zookeeper gave to a group of 5 students… a lot of fun although a tad nervy what with it being the first time he’d taken a class.
Oh and it’s worth noting that the first stencil was prepared with an acetate that was modified by hand using a scritchy paintbrush… this has kinda become our “thing” this year and feel that it is another step away from computer perfection and a tad more gestural. Might be hard to make out from this pic except perhaps around the tail, but in person it’s more …er …personable!?
Anyway, we hope you like it.
Mr.Christo was initially designed as a small one colour print for our Open House display earlier this summer …small un-numbered versions of the happy little guy are available at the SixtySeven shop in 7 Dials, Brighton… or from the Open House online store OR you can pick up this big print from Teatray In The Sky (Osbourne Road, Southsea) or you can email us on firstname.lastname@example.org – just £20
